The movement's sources informed al-Intiqad website that "the main reason behind the shooting was the lawsuit the Movement filed against Amid Hammoud, a military official in the Future Movement, directly accusing him of assassinating Sheikh Abdel Razzak al-Asmar.

In late October, al-Asmar was killed in clashes near the movement's Headquarters in Tripoli's Abu Samra area.

Meanwhile, sources reported that many interfering calls requested that the movement refrain from filing a lawsuit against Hammoud and seven others involved in the shooting. The sources further accused the "Future" movement of being behind the assault.

Al-Nashar, warned that "the cancellation policy the Future Movement imposed on Tripoli crossed all boundaries."

It is worth mentioning that a joint meeting between Future MPs Mustafa Alloush and Khaled Daher preceded the incident with Sheikh Shaaban.

In their meeting, Alloush declared: "The Arab Tawhid Movement must be removed from the North."
