Maronite Patriarch Bshara Rai condemned Saturday the bomb that targeted Lebanese Security Official Brigade General Wissam al-Hassan.
From Rome, Rai denounced "this criminal act that reminds us of days we thought we had gone past."
He further called all the Lebanese "to stand united and rise above their wounds in face of the evil forces, which desire to separate the Lebanese."
In parallel, the Patriarch urged the Lebanese "to preserve their country and set it as an example of mutual coexistence."
Rai also offered deep condolences, on his behalf and on behalf of the Maronite church, to President Michel Suleiman, members of the ISF, and families of all the victims who lost their lives in the blast. Moreover, he wished a speedy recovery to those left injured.
