"As-Safir" Lebanese daily revealed Wednesday that Iran's proposal to end Syrian crisis included the same items that were delivered to the quartet Committee at its last meeting in Cairo.
Iran’s Proposal: Transitional Period under Al-Assad’s Supervision
The proposal, handed to international envoy al-Akhdar Ibrahimi, consisted of three items: immediate cease fire, rejecting foreign interference in all its forms, and initiating a political dialogue between the Syrian government and the opposition.
Meanwhile, diplomatic sources informed al-Intiqad correspondent in Damascus, Ziad Haider, that the permanent discussions focus on achieving the first item i.e. an immediate ceasefire.

In this context, Tehran welcomed all steps that might lead to truce.
On another level, "Russia Today" website quoted Syria's former ambassador in Ankara Nidal Qabalan as saying: "Strong messages were delivered to Ankara to prevent the possibility of a military attack against Damascus."
"The messages, particularly from Russia and Iran, will deter the Turkish government's hawks from any foolish move," Qabalan added.

For his part, Deputy Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdul Allahaan, stressed that the Iranian proposal to Ibrahimi suggested a transitional period under the supervision of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.

"We propose an immediate cease-fire as well as to all types of violence, ending arms transfer and the support of terrorist groups," he added, and noted that the proposal urges the launch of a national dialogue between the opposition and the government.

The Iranian official further stressed that "Tehran recommends a transitional period leading to presidential and parliamentary elections, all under the supervision of President al-Assad."
He unveiled that "the Syrian regime agreed on this proposal."
