The following are the Islamic-Resistance operations that took place during the month of May in 1998...

Islamic Resistance Performs 131 Operations in May 1998

This May, the Islamic Resistance performed 131 military operations among 144 the different resistance squadrons performed against the occupation forces and Lahd agents. "The Amal Movement" performed 9 operations, "the Lebanese Brigades for Resisting the "Israeli" Occupation" performed 3, by that 15 operations since their launching. For their part, "the Islamic Jihad Movement for the Liberation of Palestine" performed 1.

Two "Israeli" sergeants and 5 Lahd militiamen were killed, and 3 "Israeli" soldiers and 2 Lahd militiamen were wounded, the enemy sources acknowledged. The Islamic-Resistance sources said the number of the "Israeli" casualties was the same as the "Israeli' enemy had acknowledged, but that 7 Lahd militiamen were killed and 3 others were wounded.

On the other hand, 3 Islamic-Resistance fighters were martyred in May.

Islamic Resistance Executes Agent Yusuf Semaan, May 8, 1998

On May 8, 1998, the Islamic Resistance executed agent Yusuf Semaan, known as "Joseph Touk". The fighters blasted an explosive bomb while Semaan was entering his house in the occupied Kfarhouna Town, killing him instantly and demolishing his car and house. Semaan was born in Beit Monther in Bsherri District in 1964. In 1993, he began serving the Lahd Militia as a sergeant of Kfarhouna. He underwent several military and security sessions. Between 1994 and 1996, he went to occupied Palestine.

Resistance Bombards Sites along Borders, May 11, 1998

On May 11, 1998, the Islamic Resistance counterattacked the Zionist sites of al-Abbad, Ramieh, and al-Manara along the Lebanese borders with Palestine. The sites had assailed civilians, wounding 11. Security sources in the occupied region mentioned 2 Zionist soldiers were wounded when the Resistance bombarded the sites.

In regard to the significant operation, the "Israeli" War Minister Isaac Mordechai, along with the "Israeli" chief of staff and chief of the intelligence committee, toured the sites targeted on the same day. There, Mordechai listened to the report of "the Northern Command" chief as to the operation results.
For its part, the enemy's "Channel 2" displayed the scene of al-Manara Site as it was afire.

The Islamic Resistance, in fact, counterattacked the same sites again on May 26, 1998. Two civilians had been wounded as the Zionists assailed the towns of Haddatha, Yater, Kafra, Braachit, and Hariss.

Islamic Resistance Executes Agent Nakhlé, Agent Ramadan, May 1998

The Islamic Resistance blasted a grey "BMW 320", which belonged to an officer of "al-Mashnaqa Brigade" of the Lahd Militia's "Battalion 20", Nakhlé Nakhlé. The car was demolished, and Nakhlé was killed at once. The Lahd Militia acknowledged the death of Nakhlé and the member of the occupation's "Civil Administration" (in the South), Abdul Men'em Ramadan. An explosive bombing the Islamic Resistance had implanted at Kfarhouna Crossing Point on the same day killed Ramadan, the Lahd Militia added.

Sojod-ar-Rihan Ambush, May 24, 1998

On May 24, 1998, the Islamic-Resistance fighters basted Lahd infantrymen patrolling along Sojod-ar-Rihan Route. From several directions, the Resistance artillerists opened concentrated fire on Sojod Site. Thus, two Lahd militiamen were killed.

Information sources said the "Israeli" Head of "the Liaison Unit" Erez Gerstein was visiting the operation zone to supervise the investigations held by a military committee as to the operation details.

A week earlier, an Islamic-Resistance group had clashed with an "Israeli" force in Sojod Sector, "as-Safir Newspaper" reported, adding, "The enemy sources said after a fighter was martyred, "the Liaison Unit" planned to set an ambush in the body's surroundings in order to kill the biggest possible number of fighters who would later try to evacuate the body."

"As-Safir" added, "For their part, the Lahd Militia sources said the result was completely unlike the one the "Israeli" command had been expecting. A group of fighters actually reached the body and implanted an explosive bomb beside it before withdrawing and pretending they failed to evacuate the body. As the "Israelis" and Lahd militiamen tried to remove the fighter's body themselves, they were ambushed, and two Lahd militiamen died."

Unique Confrontations in at-Tiri, May 26, 1998

On May 26, 1998, an Islamic-Resistance group ambushed a Lahd-Zionist patrol in at-Tiri Town. Positioned only a few meters away from the patrollers, the fighters machine-gunned them and launched grenades against them. The violent clashes lasted for some hours, after which more enemy troops, war helicopters, and tanks arrived in the operation zone to back up the force under fire.
The group of fighters withdrew from the occupied region, however.

In the meantime, the Islamic-Resistance Fire Backup Unit opened its barrage on the enemy sites of al-Jamoussa, Rchaf, Haddatha, and Hamayed, causing them serious losses.

While the enemy acknowledged the death of two Lahd agents, the Resistance sources confirmed their death, in addition to a third's, Lahd-Militia operation officer Elias Nasrallah.
Press sources mentioned the operation killed two Lahd militiamen and wounded five others.

The militiamen deceased were Toni Assaf Julian (35 years old) from al-Qlai'a Town and Gabi Zaki Haidoura (25 years old) from Sarda Town. Both of them served the Lahd-Militia Enginery.

Special-Forces Fighters Ambush Zionist Force in Markaba, May 28, 1998

On May 28, 1998, a group of the Islamic-Resistance Special-Forces fighters ambushed a Zionist force of "the Golani Brigade". The force was moving between "ad-Dawaweer Phalange Headquarters" and al-Abbad Site, 50 meters away from the Lebanese borders with occupied Palestine. As soon as the force reached the ambush spot, the fighters blasted an explosive bomb and used their middle and heavy arms to attack it.

The patrol ambushed had just entered occupied Palestine, reported the enemy's channel. Upon the statement of Galilee Squadron commander, Brigadier General Avi Etam, the channel also reported that other groups of "Israeli" soldiers had passed by the explosive bomb before it exploded; that implied the fighters controlled the timing of the bomb as they accurately monitored the Zionist force moving closely. "This incident is very dangerous; not only we suffered fatalities, but also Hizbullah men made it to the borders without getting exposed," General Etam said.

Two sergeants were killed, and two soldiers were wounded in a blast 50 meters away from the Lebanese borders with occupied Palestine, acknowledged a spokesman of the occupation military. The spokesman declared the deceased were First Sergeant Judah Salem (20 years old) from Beit Mshaymish and First Sergeant Abraham Limway from al-Quds (Jerusalem).

Other news agencies reported three "Israelis" were wounded.
The incident highlighted the issue of the cooperation of the occupied region's residents with Hizbullah, the enemy's channel said. For his part, Etam believed some sides were cooperating with Hizbullah.

Tens of citizens of Houla and Markaba were interrogated as they were suspected to have offered help and shelter to the operation performers, a Lahd-Militia source reported.
