"Ad-Diyar" Lebanese daily revealed Monday that "security sources confirmed recently that the flow of arms to Lebanon is very high."

"The amount of weapons in Lebanon have become almost half the quantity that flooded into Lebanon during the outbreak of the Lebanese civil war in 1975-1976," the security sources said.
They further mentioned that "the sale of arms has become popular in all areas."
"Weapons pass through different ports, but mainly the port of Beirut," the daily clarified and noted that "forged manifests are given and weaponsare being smuggled under the cover of clothes and goods."

In parallel, it highlighted that ship containers are full of weapons.
"The number of guns that entered Lebanon is estimated by 350,000, with millions of rounds of ammunition as well as thousands of anti-tank rocket-propelled grenades," "ad-Diyar" unveiled.
It also highlighted that "in Lebanon, there are around a million firearms, the highest number since 1976 [i.e. at the peak of the Lebanese war."
"Various Lebanese sides are buying weapons worth millions of dollars under the pretext that war is to break out again," it confirmed.

According to the daily, the second intense path for weapons trade is into Syria. "Qatar is the major provider," it reiterated and noted that "Qatar has security networks within the "March 14" camp."
"These networks forge the containers' documentation by replacing it with labels of other goods entering into Lebanon," it stated.

Meanwhile, the newspaper confirmed "the presence of Qatari, French, and British intelligence officers who control the arrival and distribution of weapons indirectly to be sent later to Syria."
"In Tripoli and Beirut, the price of the gun reached to $ 2,500, Venice to $ 2,000, ammunition to almost one dollar per bullet or piece of ammunition, and $ 200 is the price for each anti-tank RPG rockets," it highlighted.
