Al-Rai Condemns Aoun’s Assassination Attempt

Maronite Patriarch Mar Bshara al-Rai condemned Sunday the assassination attempt against the Head of the Change and Reform bloc MP Michel Aoun.

As he congratulated Aoun for his safety, al-Rai "thanked al-Mighty God's rescuing hand for saving us from all these attempts."
"Isn't it time for security issues to be solved in Lebanon?" al-Rai wondered.
In another context, al-Rail praised the Muslim-Christian Summit i.e. scheduled to be held Monday in Lebanon.
According to the Patriarch, the summit has 3 main goals: "to assess the Pope's visit to Lebanon, to take a stance on social and economic titles, as well as to announce a firm position from the anti-Islam film."
"We urge the United Nations to issue a decree that would utterly prevent any offense to God or any religion," he said and pointed out that "it is not acceptable, in the name of freedom and liberties, to direct any offense against God, His Prophets, Messengers and religions."

Al-Rai's remarks came at Beirut's Airport as he returned from a parish visit to India that lasted for a few days.
