Head of the National Struggle Front MP Walid Jumblatt denounced the anti-Islam film produced in the US describing it as "suspicious and weird in its circumstances and timing."

"This film came to parasitize the Arab revolutions, on top of which is the Libyan revolution that toppled the dictatorship and has taken its first steps towards democracy through transparent parliamentary elections as well as the Egyptian revolution, that led to both presidential and legislative elections making a noticeable difference in the Egyptian public path," he said
Jumblatt also slammed the "brutal revenge" that led to the death of US Ambassador to Libya Christopher Stevens and which objectively combines between extremist forces and "Israeli" interests.

According to Jumblatt, "despite the fact that I am not one of those who believe in conspiracy theories, under the banner of which the most heinous of crimes in Arab countries have been committed for decades, we can't disregard "Israel's" participation in planning the launch of the film and its responsibility for its consequences."

He also highlighted that "the film may be also linked to "Israeli" Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's hatred for US President Barack Obama and his fierce campaign against his re-election."
""Israel" with its current leadership, is exercising all possible forms of pressure to drag the United States into war against Iran and pushing the region towards chaos and major sectarian fight," he said.

Jumblatt also viewed that "such chaos serves "Israel" at more than one level."
The MP further doubted the suspicious timing of the film's release as it coincides with the visit of Pope Benedict XVI to Lebanon, which aims to reinforce Lebanon's role as a democratic, diverse country in contrast to "Israel's unilateral formula."
As Jumblatt reiterated his fear of the catastrophic consequences and dangers of such actions, he urged "the United Nations and the international community to quickly pass a Security Council resolution that is similar to laws criminalizing anti-Semitism."
