House Speaker Nabih Berri expressed Wednesday his satisfaction with the Lebanese Army's procedures and its success in liberating the four captured Syrians.
In an interview with "as-Safir" Lebanese newspaper, Berri confirmed stated that "if the security was in the hands of a reliable authority , as is the case now, the resistance will be devoted to its role."
He further stressed that "the current military institution is trustworthy as it believes in a national military doctrine."

In this context, the Speaker highlighted that "the army performs its duties in all areas," calling it to "activate its role in the Bekaa, after the Southern suburbs of Beirut."

"This is a requirement for the clans in Bekaa," he said and noted that " their representatives met me hastily, to demand the rigidity in spreading the law's authority and security in their region. "

On his recent meeting with Prime Minister Najib Mikati, Berri said "it was good and positive."
He also revealed that "he had decided to show more cooperation with Mikati at this stage as he sensed an enthusiasm that the government lacked in the past."
"The real friend is he who criticizes his friend's failures and hails his achievements, and that's what I'm doing with Mikati since the beginning of the road," Berri added.
On another level, he urged the government to set the oil file on the top of priorities. "Efforts pertaining to Lebanon's offshore resources should to be maintained in order to form the committee that would be tasked with administering the oil sector.
"We do not want to face the same obstacles that Litani River project faced," Berri warned.

In parallel, Berri reiterated his objection to raising the salaries of MPs, ministers and other state officials "We are passing through an exceptional situation, on the financial and economic level; therefore it is unacceptable to put more burdens on the state's treasury."

"If any Lebanese top leader, minister or lawmaker desired a salary raise, he should wait for Lebanon's offshore oil to be extracted," the Speaker viewed.
Berri expressed surprise concerning the hike in his salary highlighting that "it is important not to hurt the feelings of citizens, who are suffering from difficult living conditions."

On the issue of Imam Musa al-Sadr and his two companions, he explained that "former Libyan intelligence chief Abdullah Sanusi tried to evade his responsibilities during the meeting with Lebanese Foreign Minister Adnan Mansour in Mauritania, before being handed over to Tripoli."

"Communication continues with Libyans in order to obtain the necessary information from Sanusi," he added a revealed that "DNA tests on the alleged found body does not belong to Imam al-Sadr."
