Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati reiterated Tuesday the political leadership's confidence in the military institution.
He further warned that discrediting the Lebanese Army, from whatever side, not only harms the Lebanese Army, but also the entire country and people.
Mikati Reiterates Confidence in LA’s National RoleUpon receiving Army Chief Jean Qahwaji at the Grand Serail, the PM stressed that " if the LA resorted to wisdom in dealing with the security events before they take place, then this should not be considered as a sign of weakness, hesitation, or even adherence to piecemeal solutions."
"Our approach is to pave the way for quite but firm solutions," he confirmed.
In parallel, Mikati praised the LA's efforts to "fulfill duties, maintain stability, preserve security, and prevent all attempts to harm the country's image."
He also that expressed pride and confidence in the military institution i.e. for all Lebanese. "Any mistake from the LA should be solved with the military institution and the concerned judicial court," the PM said and urged the LA to remain neutral and not to get involved in reactions which might lead to opening fire.

On another level, Mikati informed Qahwaji that the government will move to approve the law to arm the LA and increase its potential cost of one billion and 600 million dollars over five years.
