In an interview with "as-Safir" Lebanese newspaper, the minister hoped that " the 10 hostages would be released in the coming days."
He further asserted the need "to keep ongoing negotiations away from political and media bickering in order to ensure its success."

On another level, the minister highlighted that "the work is underway to implement the Lebanese Army's security plan to restore calm in Tripoli."
"All opportunities were given to the so-called "security through understanding"," he said and affirmed that "no more tests are acceptable amid the continuous Northern bleeding."

Charbel also stated that "the LA took its decisive decision in dealing with the security breaches and will deal firmly with all armed men who refuse to adhere to the ceasefire agreement."

"The military and security forces stand at an equal distance from everyone and will play its role in prosecuting security violators," he said and noted that " there is no umbrella over any head ."
In parallel, Charbel revealed that the rate of security incidents has increased recently by 50 percent.

"This is mainly due mainly to the effect of the Syrian crisis on Lebanon," he clarified and highlighted that " the flow of displaced Syrians in large numbers is more than the state's ability to absorb."
