Qahwaji: Army Single Entity, Guarantees Lebanon’s Stability, Freedoms
"No matter where the situation in Syria leads to, the army will be in extreme readiness to play its role and assume its national responsibilities in accordance with the decisions of the political authority in limiting repercussions of these events on Lebanon, protecting the residents of border regions and preventing conflict," Qahwaji stated.
He iterated that the army will not allow setting up a buffer zone that is not controlled by Lebanon.

After accusations by a Future Bloc MP, that the Lebanese army chief is a failure and responsible for civil strife in the country, Qahwaji asserted, "Mistaken are those who believe that the institution is facing the challenge of preserving its unity under any circumstance."

During a statement he delivered on the occasion of the army's 67th anniversary, the Army's chief commander confirmed that the army is more cohesive to confront all efforts aiming at sowing discord between the army and the people.
"They don't know that the army is a single entity and all soldiers are loyal only to the nation," he went on to say, further noting that the military has the ability to guarantee Lebanon's stability, democratic values, and freedoms.
