Cabinet Convenes Over Telecoms Data
The Lebanese Ministerial Council will convene on Monday in a broad theme to discuss many issues including the telecoms data, al-Jomhouriyah daily reported.
The daily indicated that the meeting will convene in presence of Lebanese President Michel Suleiman, PM Najib Mikati, specialized ministers, security apparatuses' chiefs, and members of judicial committee designated to monitor intercepting phone calls.
Also, sources indicated that the meeting aims at discussing the new mechanism, especially after the security apparatuses received the telecoms data, with its complete annexes, especially the IMZI data, from the "TOUCH" GSM Company. The "ALFA" GSM Company is expected to hand in its data on Monday, according to the daily's security source.
Moreover, the daily noted that specialized security figures examined the new data, at the time when the judicial, military, and security delegation hasn't been able to head to Paris to follow up the adopted mechanisms, and decide how to make use of the telecoms data and its annexes on all levels.
High-ranking sources told al-Jomhouriyah daily that postponing the said visit is due to the lack of expert French specialists in all technical and legal files, yet they stressed that the calls are ongoing to conduct the visit at the soonest.
