GAZA CITY-Islamic resistance movement Hamas has rejected resumption of the Rafah Agreement, saying the frozen accord would severely restrict Palestinian movement due to foreign interface.
Hamas spokesman Fawzi Barhoum told Alalam Sunday: "We want the Rafah crossing to be a joint crossing point between Egypt and Palestine without foreign interference."
Barhoum noted that Rafah crossing is the only border post to the outside world "and that's why we want the rules and regulations governing this crossing to be free of any Palestinian-"Israeli" agreements."
The Hamas official said: "The Rafah Agreement, signed between the Palestinian Authority and the Zionist regime, was a security accord based on collaborations with the occupying regime," with the aim of targeting the Palestinians on the "Israeli" black list of movement.
Barhoum said that control over the crossing should be based on an agreement between Palestinians and Egypt without "Israeli" involvement.
Hamas spokesman noted that the Rafah Agreement was a year-long deal which has wreaked calamities on the Palestinians and was expired, "that's why Hamas does not accept it."
The Zionist regime has progressively tightened restrictions on Hamas movement in and out of the Gaza Strip since June 2006.
The blockade was tightened to a full-scale lockdown last week, although after intense international pressure "Israel" had to agree to allow some fuel shipments into Gaza.
But Palestinians tore apart the Rafah crossing border five days ago to pour into Egypt and stock up on essential supplies in Egypt.
