US Envoy to “Israel”: Plans to Strike Iran Ready
Local Editor
Ahead of Iran's resumption of talks with world powers on its peaceful nuclear program, the US ambassador to "Israel" Dan Shapiro announced that Washington's plans for a possible military strike on Iran are read.
"The option is fully available," Shapiro said.
In remarks to "Israel's" Army Radio, the US diplomat said that "it would be preferable to resolve this diplomatically and through the use of pressure than to use military force."
"But that doesn't mean that option is not fully available - not just available, but it's ready. The necessary planning has been done to ensure that it's ready," he added.
The envoy's comments come ahead of the upcoming negotiations between Iran and the P5+1- the five permanent UN Security Council members plus Germany- in the Iraqi capital of Baghdad.
The representatives of Iran and the P5+1 held the latest round of talks in the Turkish city of Istanbul on April 14.
