Panetta: No Concrete Info on Iran Building Nuclear Weapon
The United States Secretary of War Leon Panetta revealed Thursday that his country has not yet achieved any concrete information that proves Iran is building a nuclear weapon.
"I do not have any specific information that indicates (the Iranians) have made any decision one way or another" on whether to build a nuclear weapon," Panetta said after a meeting with his Chilean counterpart Andres Allamand.
The US official commented on "Israel's" military chief Lieutenant General Benny Gantz describing Iran's leadership as "very rational" and expressed hope that Gantz "statements were correct and he knows something more than I do."
In an interview with the "Israeli" daily, Haaretz, Gantz stated Wednesday that "the Iranian leadership is composed of very rational people who are not likely to make a decision to manufacture a nuclear bomb."
"I do not have any specific information that indicates (the Iranians) have made any decision one way or another," Panetta was quoted as saying.
He further mentioned that "I would like to hope... that because of the leadership of the US, the international community and the leadership of "Israel", they can make the right decision."
