Medvedev: West’s Intervention in Syria, Iran To Result in Chaos
Russian President Dmitry Medvedev warned Friday of violating the international law when addressing the issues of Syria and Iran as this will lead to chaos.
In his speech before "Applied Science Conference of the Russian International Affairs Council", he stressed that "the threat of military intervention in other countries' affairs is an attempt at undermining the international law."
The Russian President further said that "the very strong media campaign launched against Syria is a good example of public opinion manipulation for achieving certain foreign political missions."
"This campaign is in no way related to the missions of stopping violence and supporting the immediate launch of a Syrian dialogue process," Medvedev highlighted pointing out that "the reason behind all what is happening with regard to Syria and Iran is the twisted logic and psychology of war."
Medvedev also criticized the double standards policy of some countries concerning human rights, saying "we can't agree on adopting a selective stance when evaluating a human rights situation."
He lashed out at the attempts of some countries which consider themselves real models of democracy to interfere in others' affairs under the pretext of improving democracy as what happened in Libya and what is currently happening in Syria.
"The international community can get to a common stance regarding the missions to resolve the Syrian crisis," the Russian President said reiterating that "any acts or initiatives outside the international law can't be accepted."
"Syria is a good example of this issue," he concluded.
