16 US Intelligence Agencies: Iran Not Trying to Build Nuclear Bomb
In its report published Friday, the US famous daily "Los Angeles Times" unveiled that the latest US intelligence reports indicated that "Iran is pursuing research that could enable it to build a nuclear weapon, but that it has not sought to do so."
According to the paper," a highly classified US intelligence assessment circulated to policymakers early last year largely affirms that view, originally made in 2007. Both reports, known as national intelligence estimates, conclude that Tehran halted efforts to develop and build a nuclear warhead in 2003."

Noting to the "US and "Israeli" officials talk publicly about the prospect of a military strike against Iran nuclear program," the paper stressed that "one fact is often overlooked: US intelligence agencies don't believe Iran is actively trying to build an atomic bomb."
"The most recent report represents the consensus of 16 US intelligence agencies," "LAT" informed.

The daily further highlighted the remarks of the Islamic Revolution Supreme Leader Imam Sayyed Ali Khamenei who insisted Wednesday that "Tehran had no intention of producing nuclear weapons."

In remarks broadcasted on state television, His Eminence affirmed that "owning a nuclear weapon is a big sin."

The report came as "Israeli" War Minister Ehud Barak and Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu are scheduled to travel to Washington next week for discussions with US War Minister Leon Panetta and US President Barack Obama in which a possible attack on Iran is expected to be discussed.
