French Court Re-Opens al-Dorra File After False “Israeli” Fabrication Claims
A French court will be looking into the case of Mohammad al-Dorra, who was killed after being repeatedly shot on September 30, 2000 when he was only 12. Mohammad was seeking shelter from "Israeli" military fire with his father, who was also shot by several rounds.
Sharl Anderlan, a French reporter who was present at the shooting with his Palestinian cameraman Talal Abu Rahma eleven years ago, videotaped the incident. Anderlan was later accused of fabricating the video, despite the fact that the shooting incident took place in the mid of the day with several people and reporters around, who also witnessed the facts of the incident.
Two weeks after the shooting, cameraman Abu Rahma, who works at France 2 TV Channel, signed an affidavit affirming that "Israeli" troops deliberately opened fire at the child and his father while taking shelter. In his affidavit, Abu Rahma stressed that the "Israeli" soldiers did not only fire once, but several times.
Abu Rahma, together with reporter Anderlan conducted a detailed investigation on the shooting, and stayed committed to the original footage they have captured, which shows that al-Dorra and his father were shot by "Israeli" soldiers.
On its part, "Israel" has repeatedly claimed that it was not the troops that were shooting at the child, while other Zionist lobbyists claimed that the video and pictures were fabricated.
In 2007, head of so-called "Israeli" Media Ratings, Philippe Karsenty, filed a lawsuit against France 2, claiming that the footage was fabricated. The French TV in response sued Karsenty for vilification, after he accused it of "broadcasting a hoax". Although France 2 won the suit, Karsenty filed an appeal on the issue.
Until now, although the court requested to see the full footage of the al-Dorra incident, there hasn't been any examination, however, the issue is expected to be deliberated in February 2012.
