The US Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul defended his stance on "Israel" after he was accused of favoring the abolishing of the entity.
According to Paul's campaign spokesman, Gary Howard, "Dr. Paul is the most pro-"Israel" candidate in this race".

Howard indicated that Ron Paul is the only leader that will "stop sending tens of billions of dollars in aid and arms to "Israel's" Arab enemies, cut off subsidies to companies that do business with Iran, and allow "Israel" to defend itself as it wants, without permission and interference of the US and the United Nations".
Paul's spokesman stated that the republican candidate has apologized for not paying enough attention to the "ghost writers" who were responsible for the remarks he has previously stated illustrating anti-"Israeli" and racist approaches.

According to one of his senior aides Eric Dondero, from his Gulf Coast district from 1997 through 2003, Paul is most certainly anti-"Israel".
"He wishes the "Israeli" state did not exist at all. He expressed this to me numerous times in our private conversations", Dondero expressed in a statement posted earlier this week on the RightWingNews.com blog site.

Paul's ex-aide further added that his former boss's view is that "Israel" is more trouble than it is worth, specifically to the American taxpayer".
"He sides with the Palestinians and supports their calls for the abolishment of the Jewish state, and the return of "Israel", all of it, to the Arabs", Dondero added.
Dondero did not step back from what he said, even after Paul dismissed the said comments.
