Protest In front of ’’Israeli’’ Embassy in London
Hundreds of people in the United Kingdom rallied Tuesday evening in front of the "Israeli" embassy in London to commemorate the third anniversary of "Israel's" military offensive aggression on Gaza.
The rally was organized by the Palestinian Forum in the UK. Representatives from Palestinian solidarity movements spoke during the rally and reiterated their support for the Palestinian right to freedom and self determination.
Media officer at the Palestinian Forum in Britain Zahir Birawi said "the "Israeli" occupation commits crimes not only in the Gaza Strip, but against the Palestinian people everywhere, especially in al-Quds which faces judaization and ethnic cleansing."
On Dec. 27, 2008, "Israel" launched a three week war on the Gaza Strip.
Nearly 1,400 Palestinians were killed in the military assault, including over 300 children. The majority of those killed were civilians.
According to UN figures, 20,000 people were made homeless by the invasion and "Israel's" military destroyed over 3,500 residential homes.
About 1.7 million Palestinians live in the narrow coastal enclave and UNRWA say Gaza's unemployment rate is still one of the most severe in the world.
