After the French parliament passed a bill on Thursday in which it criminalized the denial of the 1915 Armenian Genocide, Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmad Davutoglu lashed out the decision, and criticized the French government.

He indicated that the French politicians who adopted the draft law are no different than Middle East dictators like Muammar Gaddafi.
"Middle Eastern rulers dictate what their people may think or say. That is what is happening in France right now", the Turkish Foreign Minister indicated at a conference on Friday attended by the country's ambassadors.

On his part, Prime Minister Recep Tayyeb Erdogan accused on Friday France of committing "genocide" in Algeria in 1945.
"France massacred an estimated 15 percent of Algerian population starting from 1945. This is genocide", Erdogan stated in a news conference in response to the French bill.

Moreover, Erdogan accused French President Nicolas Sarkozy of "fanning hatred of Muslims and Turks for electoral gains".
"I am sure he has many things to tell his son about the French massacre in Algeria", Erdogan noted.

On another hand, French President Nicolas Sarkozy urged mutual respect of views between his country and turkey in light of the draft law adopted.
"I respect the views of our Turkish friends - it's a great country, a great civilization - and they must respect ours," the French President claimed during his visit to Prague.
