Despite the deepening economic crisis sweeping across their country, one-fifth of US Congressmen have been scheduled to visit the "Israeli" entity, Press TV correspondent reported.

The scheduled one-week trips are expected to be paid for by the American "Israel" Education Fund, an affiliate of the American "Israeli" Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC).
The AIPAC is a major US-based pro-"Israeli" political pressure group that is believed to dictate the US foreign policy in the Middle East.
The first group of the AIPAC-funded trip is scheduled to arrive in the occupied territories on Monday and will include 26 democrats.

During the visit, the US congressmen will hold meetings with "Israeli" President Shimon Peres, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and Palestinian Authority Chief Mahmoud Abbas.
On this level, Americans voice denunciation to the visit that comes amidst Washington's ongoing worst economic downturn since the 1930 Great Depression.
Executive Director of the Washington Report on Middle East Affairs, Delinda Hanley stated, "It is outrageous that Congress is going on holiday. It is even more outrageous that they are not going home and talk to their constituents who are losing their jobs ... they (Americans) want to talk to their Congress people and where are they? They are in "Israel"".

According to US Congress Democratic Representative Steny Hoyer, the purpose of the trip is to learn about the evolving security situation in the Middle East, the deep challenges facing "Israel", and the role the US can play in the region during this time of uncertainty.

One should wonder here why the US's concerns are focused on the "Israeli"-Middle East crisis, rather than their own domestic economic crisis that would most probably affect their work and position in office.
