The United Nations issued a new report in which it slammed "Israel" over an unnecessary force used against protesters during the Nakba day.
The UN report was extremely critical of "Israel" for its handling of incidents on the border with Lebanon on May 15, "Israeli" newspaper Haaretz reported.

On its part, "Israel" expressed anger at the UN Special Coordinator for Lebanon, Michael Williams, as he was the one to authorize the report on behalf of the UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon. In this context, the "Israeli" Foreign Affairs Ministry announced that his country will cut contacts with Williams until further notice, also canceled William's visit to the occupied territories, which was due within few weeks.

The UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon's report tackles the implementation of the UN Security Council resolution 1701 (issued to end the July 2006 "Israeli" war on Lebanon), and referring to the incidents of Nakba Day with the Lebanese borders, "Israel" was said to violate the aforementioned resolution.
The UN report stated that the "Israeli" military forces "used direct live fire against unarmed demonstrators", further calling upon them to "refrain from responding with live fire in such situations".

Furthermore, the UN report indicated that the "Israeli" occupation army "did not use conventional crown control methods or any other method that lethal weapons against the demonstrators".
According to the investigation findings of the UNIFIL, the "Israeli" live ammunition resulted in "killing seven civilians and injuring 111".

In the same context, the UN report noted that the firing of live ammunition by the "Israeli" military forces "across the Blue Line [the border fence] against the demonstrators, which resulted in the loss of civilian life and a significant number of casualties, constituted a violation of resolution 1701 (2006) and was not commensurate to the threat to "Israeli" soldiers."
