Former US War Minister Donald Rumsfeld admitted in his memoires that he has committed a mistake, when he claimed that Saddam Hussein has weapons of mass destruction, as one of the excuses to launch the war against Iraq.

In his autobiography, entitled "Known and Unknown", Rumsfeld says, "I made a misstatement", and further explaining that what he meant to say was there are "suspect sites" of weapons of mass destruction (WMD).

Donald Rumsfeld seeks to revise in his book the history of Bush's administration on different issues, from the Iraqi invasion, to the Guantanamo Bay.

Rumsfeld states in his book, "Recalling the CIA's designation of various ‘suspect' WMD sited in Iraq, I replied, ‘We know where they are. They're in the area around Tikrit and Baghdad.' My words have been quoted many times by critics of the war as an example of how the Bush administration misled the public."

In addition to what he calls, his "misstatement" on the WMDs, Former US War Minister also expressed his regret in his book over his famous comment about Iraq, where he said, "stuff happens", especially that he was later criticized for failure to send troops to Iraq, which would be enough to maintain security in the country.
