Victory at Oakland Port: “Israeli” Ship Blocked from Unloading
A peaceful protest in the San Francisco Bay area successfully prevented the unloading of an "Israeli" cargo ship on Sunday.
Social justice activists and labor union organizers blocked several entrances at the Port of Oakland, preventing workers in the International Longshore and Warehouse Union (ILWU), from coming to work and unloading the "Israeli" ships.
Up to 700 activists protested in response to the ongoing Gaza siege and the Zionist navy attack on Freedom Flotilla.
A coalition of Palestinian trade unions issued a statement saying that Gaza today is the test of universal morality and common humanity.
Labor organizers handed out flyers to truckers, dockworkers and other port workers on their way to work, explaining the attack on the Gaza aid carrying Freedom Flotilla and urging workers not to take action until the Gaza siege is lifted.
In response, the ILWU Local 10 announced joining dockworkers in South Africa, Western Australia, Sweden and Norway, who have all launched similar actions.
