UN SPECIAL RAPPORTEUR WARNS: “ISRAELI” MILITARY ORDERS IN BREACH OF INTERNATIONAL HUMAN RIGHTS LAW

UN Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in the Palestinian territories, Richard Falk, slammed the "Israeli" decision to deport thousands of Palestinians from the occupied territories as they are "illegally staying in the West Bank".

Falk stated that the recent "Israeli" army decisions violate the humanitarian international law and the basic principles of human rights.

He added that these decisions violate Article number 49 of the Fourth Geneva Conventions that prohibits the all sorts of deportations against occupied residents, and calls for providing them with the needed protection.

Falk said that these "Israeli" orders apparently allow "Israel" to arrest, prosecute, imprison and/or deport all persons present in the occupied West Bank.
He also expressed concern on "Israel's" use of the term "infiltrator" to identify any person "unlawfully" living in the occupied territories, or any person present in the area without a permit from "Israel".

According to the report on the UN website, Mr. Falk said that "a wide range of violations of international human rights and international humanitarian law could be linked to actions carried out by the Government of "Israel" under these orders, with particular gravity in the event that young persons become victims of their application."

Falk further stated that under the current orders, "Israel" allows itself to imprison any person for seven years without any judicial review, and that the persons who manage to prove that their entry ware lawful would be imprisoned for three years.
