Car Bomb Explodes at Police Checkpoint in Iraq, Eight Killed

A car bomb exploded at a police checkpoint, killing eight people in the south of Baghdad, as AFP agency reported on Thursday.
The blast at the police checkpoint five kilometers (three miles) north of the city of Hilla killed 8 people and wounded 20 others, a police captain and a doctor said.
This comes as Iraq struggles with daily violence ahead of an election next week.
