Shibani: US should stop interference in Lebanon΄s internal affairs

Iranian Ambassador to Lebanon Mohammad Rida Shibani denied that his country was interfering in Lebanon's domestic affairs or its upcoming parliamentary elections, and offered his country's support for the Lebanese "in the face of difficulties."

Following a visit with former Minister Wiam Wahhab on Monday, Shibani said, "We ask all foreign powers, especially the US, to stop interfering in Lebanon's internal affairs."

Wahab also said that "Iran does not interfere in the details of Lebanese politics, but rather deals with regional issues among which Lebanon is included."

"Arabs should realize that the Iranian power works to serve their interests and causes, and they should deal with it accordingly," the former minister said.

Wahhab said he would not run for the Druze seat in the Baabda district, but if he was going to run it would be in the Chouf district on a joint list with Free Patriotic Movement officials, former Minister Naji Boustany, former MP Zaher al-Khatib and others.
