The Leader of the Islamic Revolution says the perseverance of resistance forces in the region has pushed the bullying powers into a state of weakness.
Ayatollah Khamaenei made the remarks in a Sunday meeting with a group of former Lebanese and Iraqi prisoners, freed from "Israeli" and Baath regime prisons.

Comparing the status quo of the "Israeli" regime and the US government with their position in the past 20 years, Ayatollah Khamenei said, "The bullying powers that once saw themselves as the absolute powers now feel impotent."

The patience and resistance of Lebanese and Palestinian combatants led to their victory in southern Lebanon and Gaza and the rest of the believers will achieve victory in the future, Ayatollah Khamenei maintained.

The "Israeli" army which was once considered to be the world's fourth military power failed to achieve its goals in its latest offensive against Islamic resistance forces in the region.
"Israel's" recent war on Gaza was aimed to make up "Israel's" failure in its 33-day war on Lebanon in summer 2006 and repair army's damaged image.

A report by the Winograd Committee on the regime's 33-day war against Lebanon cited major "failures and faults in the decision making process, both in the political echelon and military level" as the main reason behind the defeat.
During the meeting Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei lavished praise on the resistance and endurance the prisoners had shown during their years of captivity.

Lebanese prisoners including country's longest serving prisoner Samir Kuntar, Sheikh Abdel-Karim Obeid and Mostafa dirani who were held in "Israeli" detention centers for years were among the leader's visitors. Former Iraqi prisoners, Jabbar Mavat Kasar and Fazel Al-Mousavi freed from the Baath regime prisons were the other participants of the meeting.

The Leader of the Islamic Revolution also held a separate meeting with visiting Hamas political leader, Khaled Mashaal on Sunday.
