ROME-Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad slammed aggressive US policies in the Middle East on Tuesday, accusing it of raising tension and pressure in the region.
"The United States (has) brought the Middle East nothing but threats, pressure and coercion," he told a press conference at a summit on the global food crisis.
Accusing the US president for seeking another war in the region by raising the probability of a military confrontation with Iran, Ahmadinejad said: "Bush is very much interested in a military attack against Iran. Several times he has tried to find excuses for such an attack, but every time he has failed."
"He's very eager for a war," he said adding that Bush will actually bring his presidential term to an end with the grief of his failures.
Bush is facing mounting pressure at home for launching two open ended wars in Iraq and Afghanistan which many analysts see as the collapse of his foreign policy.
On Iran's nuclear issue, president Ahmadinejad insisted once again that Tehran's nuclear program did not breach international law.
"Our nuclear program is legal and transparent. We are not seeking more than our rights," he said.
On the recent 'Israeli' threats against Iran, Ahmadinejad said that the demise of the occupying regime of 'Israel' "will certainly happen and is something that is already happening, whether we are involved in it or not."
Ahmadinejad called for the food crisis to be tackled outside the UN system, saying that major powers were imposing their will on the UN Security Council.
Ahmadinejad joined leaders including the presidents of Brazil, France, Argentina and Egypt at the Rome conference at the headquarters of the Food and Agriculture Organization, the UN's global food body.
