AL-AKHBAR: American Initiative to Naturalize Displaced Syrians in Host Countries

Al-Akhbar newspaper saw on Wednesday that the attempts of resolving the Syrian refugees' crisis fall into the category of merging and naturalizing them with the host countries, one of which is Lebanon. According to the Lebanese daily, the latest of these efforts is an American initiative that will be launched on the 20th of September as part of a conference launched by US President Barack Obama on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly meeting in New York, dedicated to discuss the Refugees' crisis.

Al-Akhbar newspaper pointed out that the conference will call host countries to "start in carrying out legal procedures and prepare an appropriate environment to give citizenship to the displaced Syrians."

According to the paper, the conference will imply that the host countries should provide the necessary conditions of social and economic assimilation, and will focus on finding problems to the crisis of the displaced and pave the way to shift from the phase of delivering aid to ending need.

This, according to the paper, implies that the Syrian displaced people and as time passes will learn how to assimilate in the host societies and by that stop any dependence on foreign countries especially when host countries acknowledge the rights of the displaced Syrians and grant them the right of residency and legal work.

During the 27th Arab summit held in Nouakchott under the chairmanship of Mauritanian President Mohammed Weld Abdel Aziz, Lebanese Prime Minister Tammam Salam suggested the formation of an Arab committee to crystalize the notion of creating "accommodation zones inside the Syrian territories" for the displaced Syrian people during the Arab summit on Monday. Lebanon has reiterated its firm rejection to the naturalization of refugees in the country.

AL-JOMHOURIA: Army on High Alert, Ready to Confront Sudden Attacks

A high-ranking security source told al-Jomhouria newspaper on Wednesday that the Lebanese army has upped its state of alert and its measures in the last hours, in anticipation for any terrorist acts being prepared by the extremist groups.

Also, the source reported that on the day of the Army on the 1st of August, Head of the Lebanese Army General Jean Qahwaji will declare the danger zones that threaten Lebanon and will provide the Lebanese army soldiers with instructions to stay alert and ready to confront any sudden terrorist attacks.

On another note, State Minister Mohammad Fneish told al-Jomhouria newspaper that "the main element through which the internal arena of Lebanon can be fortified is through alienation from all external repercussions and factors that threaten domestic security.

Also, he assured that "We should not allow political disputes to constitute a pretext and chance that can be exploited by sides that threaten Lebanon's security and stability."

AS-SAFIR: Ain Al-Helweh Palestinian Camp under Control, Lebanese Army Ready for Confrontation

Security sources told As-Safir newspaper that the situation in the Palestinian camp Ain al-Helweh is not as bad as it is being visualized through media, yet the situation is still sensitive. The source noted that some armed groups are resorting to the use of "propaganda" to spread possible scenarios on the ground, and in an attempt to strengthen its members especially as several members handed themselves to the Lebanese army.

The source assures that "small groups belonging to the terrorist groups "al-Nusra" and "Daesh" [Arabic acronym for "ISIS" / "ISIL"] are located inside the Palestinian camp, but the situation is under control."

The source further points out that there is a strong cooperation between the Palestinian factions and the Lebanese army in the different Palestinian camps, especially as Palestinian officials understand that if the camps fall into the trap of the terrorist groups, this implies that the cams will be isolated from the outside world and the halting of all forms of aid presented by the UNURWA and other governmental or non-governmental organizations.

Military sources earlier stressed that "at the time the Lebanese army stays alert at the borders, it is also keeping an eye on Ain al-Helweh Palestinian refugee camp to monitor any attempts of carrying out terrorist attacks by Daesh or al-Nusra font."
