Amidst the Gulf Cooperation Council's [GCC] campaign against Lebanon, a Kuwaiti official was quoted Monday that Kuwait had cancelled the residencies of more than 60 Lebanese nationals.

Kuwait Cancels Residencies of 60 Lebanese

The Interior Ministry's Assistant Undersecretary of Citizenship and Passports Affairs Maj. Gen. Mazen Al-Jarrah told the Kuwaiti daily Al-Qabas that more 60 Lebanese citizens have up to two months to settle their financial situations before being deported from the country.

The move came amid a heightened campaign by Gulf countries against the Lebanese Resistance earlier this month.

Al-Jarrah also revealed that the deportation was not only limited to Arab nationals, but that a US citizen was also told to leave.

The senior security official said that there is coordination between Gulf countries to limit the number of "undesirables" to come to work in the region.

A week ago, Kuwait announced the deportation of 11 Lebanese and three Iraqis, while Bahrain announced a similar move a week earlier.

Earlier this month, a report published in the same newspaper said that Kuwait is set to expel around 1,100 Lebanese and Syrians.

While around 41,000 Lebanese live in Kuwait, almost 350,000 of them work and live in the entire oil-rich Gulf region.

The expulsions are part of the fallout from a worsening Lebanese-Gulf diplomatic spat, which began in February when Saudi Arabia halted $4 billion in grants to the Lebanese army and police.

Gulf states have since issued travel warnings against Lebanon.
