"Israeli" extremists made death threats against Palestinian journalist Mohammed al-Qiq, who had been on a hunger strike for nearly a hundred days, while he is recuperating in hospital.

In further details, an "Israeli" soldier and a settler forced their way into al-Qiq's room in the al-Afula Hospital while his security guard was away from his post, the Middle East Monitor reported on Wednesday.

After gaining access to his room, both intruders shouted: "You must die. You deserve only death."

Al-Qiq's wife, Fayhaa Shalash, accused the "Israelis" of arranging the incident with the conveniently absent security guard.

She further added that the "extremists" fled the hospital after her husband called for help.

It was on February 26 that al-Qiq halted his strike after he was arrested last November at his home in the West Bank city of Ramallah. Meanwhile, he is still being treated for the damage caused by his 94-day hunger strike.

The journalist started the hunger strike as a protest against his administrative detention, a Zionist policy under which Palestinian inmates are kept in detention facilities without trial or charge for periods of six months which can be extended for indefinite times.

Currently, over 600 detainees are under "Israeli" administrative detention.
