Suicide Attack Kills 12, Wounds 35 NW. Pakistan

Pakistani police reported that at least 12 people were killed and 35 wounded on Tuesday when a motorcycle-borne suicide attacker crashed through the gate of a crowded government office and detonated a bomb in northwest Pakistan.

The blast occurred near the National Database and Registration Authority office in Mardan.

Relatively, rescuers reported that at least 12 people were killed in the blast which took place at a time the office was crowded with people.

Initial reports mentioned that a security guard posted at the office stopped the bomber at the gate, after which he detonated his suicide vest. The attacker was on a motorbike and rammed it into the gate after being denied entry.

In addition, initial reports added that the blast damaged doors and windows in the building, in which some of those injures are classified to be in serious conditions.

Eventually, the death toll is feared to rise. Meanwhile, human body remains are strewn across the blast site.

Meanwhile, the area was cordoned off as rescue and security sources rushed to the site.

Although no one immediately claimed responsibility for the attack, previous similar attacks were blamed on the Pakistani extremist Taliban group.

The site where the attack took place is located some 50 kilometers northwest of Peshawar, the capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province bordering Afghanistan.
