Lebanon Registers 1,993 COVID-19 Cases, 6 Deaths in Last 24 Hrs.

Lebanon recorded 1,993 new COVID-19 cases and six deaths in the past 24 hours, the Health Ministry reported Thursday.

The cases were found among 19,335 tests, resulting in an average two-week positivity rate of 8.9 percent.

The report also said that 440 people were in hospital with the virus, including 187 patients in intensive care and 41 on ventilators.

The new numbers bring the aggregate to 588,578 cases and 7,999 deaths in Lebanon since the virus was first discovered in February 2020. Out of the latest figures, 26 were among travelers arriving in Lebanon.

A total of 13,090 first-dose vaccine jabs were administered, bringing the total to 1,336,513, or 28.2 percent of the eligible population, as well as 7,931 second-dose jabs, resulting in a total of 1,097,194 individuals or 23 percent of the eligible population now fully vaccinated in Lebanon since the vaccination began six months ago.
