Imam Khamenei: Iran Won’t Discuss Its Regional Role with US, Extra-Regional States

The Leader of the Islamic Revolution His Eminence Imam Sayyed Ali Khamenei said on Thursday a Muslim woman is influential in society, a family manager and a source of peace of mind for man whereas the feature of a Western woman is nudity and her ability to attract men.

Imam Khamenei made the remarks in a with a group of eulogists Thursday on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Sayyida Fatima Zahraa (AS), the beloved daughter of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH), which is designated as the national Women's Day in Iran.

"A Muslim woman is responsible for the most important part of man's training, is influential in the society and has scientific and spiritual growth," Imam Khamenei told the audience.

"In contrast, there has always been a deviant framework; today, that different model for women is the one offered by the west. Today, according to the western model, the most sought characteristics of a woman involve her ability to physically attract men and appease them: one distinct image (portrayed in society) of the western woman is her nudity," the Leader said.

The Leader went on to say that "By promoting modest dress (hijab), Islam has blocked the path which would lead women to such a deviant lifestyle. Hijab is a means of immunity not restriction."

Elsewhere in his remarks, Imam Khamenei shed light on the regional presence of Iran and explained: "For 40 years, enemies have plotted against Iran, spending billions to strike a blow to the Islamic Republic of Iran, but for 40 years this pure tree has been steadily growing, which makes us proud. There's never been so many plots against any nation, yet enemies haven't achieved even one of their goals!"

"Just a few months ago they plotted, among their think-tanks, and set a plan and a time, estimating that the Islamic Republic would fall by the end of the year. You witnessed how the Iranian nation responded. Iranians are ready to respond to any invaders or any transgressor," the Imam explained to the audience.

"While American has a corrupt and seditious presence everywhere, it keeps creating doubts about Iran's presence in the region. Do we have to get America's permission for presence in the region?"

The Leader noted, "In order to be present in the region, should we negotiate and hold talks with regional governments or with you? Anytime we wanted to be present in America we will hold talks with you!"

Answering to some European officials, who had indicated their willingness to negotiate with Iran over its presence in the region, Imam Khamenei repeated the above point, saying, "What has this issue to do with you? Is this region our region or yours? What are you doing in the region? We make arrangements with regional nations and have made those arrangements and have gone forward and will continue to go forward."

Imam Khamenei said: "In the logic of Islam, a woman has a perfect pattern and model. A Muslim woman is one who enjoys faith and chastity."
