Syrian Army, Allies Capture Albukamal, Last Daesh Stronghold

In one of the most significant achievements, the Syrian Army and its allies captured the last major stronghold of Daesh [Arabic Acronym for the terrorist "ISIS"/"ISIL"]. Iraqi mobilization units [Hash Shaabi] also took part in the operation.
Syrian government forces have captured the town of Albukamal located in the Euphrates valley on the border with Iraq. The town was one of the last major settlements held by Daesh terrorists.
A video published on a YouTube account showed Syrian Army soldiers and allied forces from various militia groups as well as Hezbollah Resistance men celebrating their victory in the vicinity of Albukamal. The footage shows Hezbollah fighters posing with the group's flag as well as Syrian soldiers and allied gtoups posing with the national Syrian flag.
"The last stronghold of Daesh, Albukamal, is free of the Daesh organization," said the Syrian commander of the operations on Wednesday night.
Hezbollah fighters were "the foundation in the battle" he noted, adding that hundreds of the elite forces took part in the liberation operation.
Meanwhile, Syrian army units have reached Iraqi government stationed along the border of the town.
Deir E-Zzor is the capital of an oil-rich Syrian province of the same name, which borders Iraq. The city used to serve as the main Daesh stronghold in Syria after the terror group left Raqqah in the north to US-backed Kurdish militants.
