The main stronghold of the Wahhabi Daesh [Arabic acronym for "ISIS" / "ISIL"] terrorists group in Syria is almost destroyed and the end of the war is close, but it is still too early to calm down, deputy chairman of the State Duma Defense Committee Yury Shvytkin said.

"In my opinion, certainly, the end is rather close... At the same time, it has occurred thanks to the de-escalation zones which have been created in cooperation with other countries directly fighting terrorism in Syria," Shvytkin told RIA Novosti.

Eyewitnesses reported that residents of Deir ez-Zor have taken to the streets, celebrating a victory over Daesh and break of three years' blockade of the city.

At the same time, the Russian parliamentarian had emphasized that it is impossible to calm down because the terrorist groups can still strike civilians.

"The main stronghold of those concentrations of "ISIS" terrorists is almost destroyed," he summed up.
