The spokesman for Yemen's Ansarullah movement and the head of the negotiating delegation, Mohamed Abdel Salam, denied Thursday a statement by UN envoy Ismail Ould Cheikh that he held meetings with the national delegation or with his representative during his visit to the capital Sanaa on Wednesday.

Abdel Salam wrote in a tweet on his Twitter page, "There is no truth to what was stated in the statement of the UN envoy about any meeting he held with us or with those who represented us in any way during his recent visit to the capital Sanaa."

Ould Sheikh had left Sanaa Thursday after the national delegation refused to meet because of the lack of commitment by the UN to its promises and its disregard to the suffering of the Yemeni people, most notably the salaries of employees and the continued closure of Sana'a airport because of the siege imposed by the Saudi-led coalition.

On Monday, Abdulsalam stressed the need for peace, expressing his regret over the failure of the UN to honor its commitments.

On his Facebook page, Abdel Salam pointed out that the continuation of the meetings with the UN has become part of the futility as long as it is unable to do anything to fulfill its humanitarian and moral commitments or to declare an open position in which the aggressor has full responsibility for what it has done and is still committing against the Yemeni people.

The Ansarullah spokesperson stressed the need for peace and finding comprehensive solutions, adding that this is the choice of the Yemeni people.

"Our long experience with the United Nations has proven that it is incapable of doing anything. It moves when the forces of aggression want it to move whenever international and regional pressure increases on them to fool the world into feeling that there is a process of political negotiation," he said.

Abdel Salam stressed that "whenever we provide a map or a project and submit to the UN, the forces of aggression withdraw from fulfilling any obligation and the UN is silent. It waits for a new round or a military path that may force the Yemeni people to raise the banner of surrender."

The spokesman expressed his regret towards the complicity of the UN in greatly facilitating the economic blockade and the transfer of the central bank and other practices.
