"Israel" to Receive German Nuclear Submarine
Protests took place outside a joint meeting as "Israel's" Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and German Chancellor Angela Merkel discussed plans to funnel more German weapons, including nuclear Dolphin submarines, to "Israel".
"Judaism Yes, Zionism No!" read signs carried by a group of Orthodox Jews who joined dozens of other protesters in a demonstration outside the Cabinet meeting of the German and "Israeli" Prime Ministers on Monday.
The protesters condemned the ongoing "Israeli" siege on the Gaza Strip, where 1.5 million Palestinians live imprisoned behind "Israeli" and Egyptian border controls, unable to leave or to export or import goods.
Protesters also challenged "Israel's" invasion of the Gaza Strip last year, during which "Israeli" forces killed over 1400 Palestinians, 400 of whom were children, including dozens of infants and babies.
Meanwhile other activists held a protest to decry Germany's potential sale of military equipment, stressing that the country's constitution did not allow the sale of arms to any sides of an ongoing conflict.
"Israel" already possesses five such submarines, most of them gifts from the German government.
Since 1998, Germany has spent EUR 900 million in providing Israel with five Dolphin class submarines.
