Norway divests from an “Israeli” security company
Following the "Israeli" -Sweden rift caused by a Swedish newspaper accusing "Israeli" troops of harvesting organs of killed Palestinians and that stirred up a lot of controversy, another crisis emerges for the Zionist state.
The Norwegian Government decided on Thursday to divest from the Elbit "Israeli" security and military industry company as it supplies security and surveillance equipment for the illegal Annexation Wall in the occupied Palestinian territories.
The Norwegian Finance Minister, Kristin Halvorsen, officially made the decision public on Thursday.
Elbit Systems, an optics and electronics manufacturer was dropped from the Norwegian pension fund, which invests in 40 other "Israeli" companies. The International Court of Justice at The Hague had officially declared the Wall as illegal in its advisory ruling of 2004.
Moreover, Halvorsen stated that the Norwegian government is not willing to fund companies that directly or indirectly contribute to violation of the international humanitarian law.
"Israel" objected Norway's decision as Yossi Gal met the Norwegian Ambassador to "Israel", Jakken Biom Lian, to protest the divestment decision. "Israel" also said that it would consider further measures to protest the decision.
The divestment decision came as Palestinian, "Israeli" and Norwegian peace activists and leftist groups launched a campaign Norwegian companies investing in the construction of the Annexation Wall and surveillance equipment used by "Israel".
"Israeli" companies have increased their investments in Norway over the past two years as some 41 "Israeli" companies have security investment in the country.
Women For Peace group said that the companies are involved in the construction and development of the "Israeli" Annexation Wall in the occupied West Bank.
The Annexation Wall was not built on the Green Line, which separates the West Bank from "Israel", but instead its routes deepen into the occupied Palestinian territories to enable the construction of Jewish settlements.
The Wall isolates Palestinian villages from their lands, and in some areas, it surrounded villages tuning them into prisons with a gate controlled by the soldiers who decide when to open or close it.
