Supreme Leader values martyrs to be buried at a Tehran university
Tehran - Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Ali Khamenei lauded on Sunday the decision to bury bodies of a number of the war time martyrs at the Amir Kabir University of Technology.
Remains of five martyrs from the eight years of Iraqi imposed war against Iran (1980-1988) are to be buried at the university's campus in downtown Tehran later on Monday.
In a message on the occasion, the ayatollah said, "Those who were martyred during the war were the pious and committed youth who made sacrifices to defend their country's territorial integrity."
The Supreme Leader added that it was the self-sacrifice of the Iranian youth during the war time that saved Islam as well as the freedom and independence of Iran.
"Our nation, mainly our youth, are indebted to the martyrs," said Ayatollah Khamenei.
He stressed that commemorating martyrs was a duty for each and every Iranian.
