Nicolas: Information Branch unlawful

Change and Reform Bloc MP Nabil Nicolas told New TV on Friday that the wiretapping debate was not connected to the cabinet or to the upcoming parliamentary elections, adding that Telecommunications Minister Gebran Bassil was only implementing Law N⁰ 140 on the issue.

"If they do not want to implement the law, they should amend it within the parliament," Nicolas added.

He also said that the main problem was the illegitimacy of the ISF Information Branch, because it could not be provided with all the requested information without being legitimate.

Nicolas noted the unbalanced development of Lebanese regions and called for ensuring that councils similar to the Council for South to be established in all areas.
