Nasrallah receives Chomsky: Hizbullah`s weapons are justified

American thinker Noam Chomsky said that Hizbullah has good reasons for keeping the weapons in his hands. He expressed his belief that until a comprehensive political settlement is reached in the region, to reduce or eliminate aggressions and their potential risks, "any aggression against Lebanon must be deterred; the Lebanese army is incapable of doing so."
Chomsky`s statement came after a two hour meeting yesterday afternoon with Hizbullah`s Secretary-General His eminence Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah (the key personality the American thinker requested an appointment with before his arrival in Beirut). Chomsky said after meeting with Sayyed Nasrallah: "There is a definition of terrorism that could be read through the American law, which is clear and precise. I have used this definition for twenty-five years, but I discovered later that this definition was not feasible as it is clear that the United States is the most terrorist nation, while other nations become `terrorists` according to their compatibility with the goals of America. Iraq, for example, was a terrorist until 1982 when the Reagan (President Ronald) Administration wanted to give assistance to Saddam Hussein to possess weapons of mass destruction. Syria was also placed on the terrorist list for a long time, when in 1994, Clinton offered her removal from the terrorism list in return for a settlement with "Israel" over the Golan Heights.
Mr. Chomsky described Nasrallah as a "rational and intelligent analyst in the Lebanese situation", and added "I have learned many things from him."
