Supreme Leader hails scientists on satellite Omid launch

Tehran - Supreme Leader of Islamic Revolution on Tuesday appreciated the services of Iranian scientists in launching Omid (Hope) lightweight telecommunications satellite on Tuesday.
The Supreme Leader's Office released a message on Tuesday in response to a letter from President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in connection with launching of the satellite.
The Supreme Leader's message reads as follows:
"In the Name of the Most High,
His Excellency, Dr. Ahmadinejad, President of the Islamic Republic of Iran,
"I sincerely thank and appreciate the efforts of noble directors and scientists for their efforts which made such a praiseworthy move possible. This is another sign of the sincere hopes that the glorious revolution of Iranian nation has created in the hearts. Hope God will protect all you and make you successful.

Iran launched its first home-built satellite into orbit on Tuesday as part of celebrations to mark the 30th anniversary of the victory of Islamic Revolution in Iran.
The Omid (Hope) lightweight telecommunications satellite was sent into space by the Iranian-produced satellite carrier Safir 2.
President Ahmadinejad gave an order for the launch and hailed the move as a new achievement written in history.
"Dear people of Iran, your children have sent Iran's first domestic satellite into orbit... May this be a step toward... justice and peace," said Ahmadinejad.
"Iran's official presence in space has been added to the pages of history," he added.
