Amid soaring tensions in north “Israel” and following the speech of Hezbollah Secretary General His Eminence Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, an “Israeli” colonel is warning against complacency in confronting the Lebanese resistance group.

In an interview with “Israel’s” Radio 103FM, Reserve Army Colonel Kobi Marom said that “there is a sophisticated organization here that is likely to surprise the ‘Israeli’ army.”

“Hezbollah has a lot of forces along the border, so I would not rely on moderate rhetoric in light of what is happening on the ground, and we must be very careful, especially after October 7,” he said.

He further warned that “A miscalculation in the number of injured people on one side leads to escalation”.

“We should not be naive,” he added and said false perceptions about “Israeli” military strength led to disappointment in both Gaza and the north.

“That is why, when they say, 'We need to return to the terms of the 2006 ceasefire,' it sounds nice. This means that the ‘Israeli’ army will have to strike all of the Radwan formations on the northern border after it ends the main fighting in Gaza,” Marom said.

“This will not happen in parallel, and it is quite clear that the situation in which a Hezbollah commando force is present dozens of meters away from the settlements of ‘Metula’ and ‘Zar’it’ cannot be tolerated by all standards. Of course, we will not allow this.”

According to the reserve army colonel, the ‘Israeli’ army is facing a challenge in Gaza “that we have never known before.

“It does not even resemble any challenge that the Americans have dealt with in any arena – a very well-fortified city, with different elements of the guerrilla war run by Hamas. It will take several months, and we have to say to ourselves frankly, after more than a week, Hamas is still fighting, and it is determined, and its control system is effective. There is a system that is fighting and it is determined; it hasn't been broken yet, and I'm not sure when it will break.”

However, Marom doesn’t believe the “Israelis” have an unlimited amount of time to complete their mission.

“When we look at the objectives of the fighting – which in my view are extremely exaggerated – according to the international war clock, especially the American one, and in the face of the approaching winter season – I question whether the ‘Israeli’ army has all the time in the world. I point out that we have not yet begun dealing with the Hamas brigades in the southern Gaza Strip, Rafah and Khan Yunis. When I think about all these elements, I doubt the ‘Israeli’ army will be able to achieve the ambitious goals set for it by the political echelon.”
