Lebanon Records 1,632 More Coronavirus Cases, 5 Deaths

Lebanon recorded 1,632 new COVID-19 cases and five deaths in the past 24 hours, the Health Ministry reported Friday.

A total of 27,678 tests were administered in the last 24 hours, resulting in an average two-week positivity rate of 8.1 percent.

The report also said that 433 people were in hospital with the virus, including 175 patients in intensive care and 37 on ventilators.

The new numbers bring the aggregate to 579,999 cases and 7,967 deaths in Lebanon since the virus was first discovered in February 2020. Out of the latest figures, 29 were among travelers arriving in Lebanon.

A total of 9,773 first-dose vaccine jabs were administered, bringing the total to 1,302,455, or 27.3 percent of eligible population, as well as 12,057 second-dose jabs, resulting in a total of 1,059,438 individuals or 22.2 percent.
