Lebanon recorded 1,817 new COVID-19 cases and four deaths Thursday, the Health Ministry reported.
The new numbers bring the aggregate to 578,367 cases and 7,962 deaths in Lebanon since the virus was first discovered in February 2020.
Lebanon has been experiencing a new wave of the virus since the discovery of the Delta variant at the start of July.
While normal activities have resumed for much of the population with many people disregarding social distancing, there has been a surge in cases.
The government has announced that there might be a lockdown in September if the cases remain on the rise.
