Lebanon Records 1,593 New COVID Cases, 6 Deaths

Lebanon recorded 1,593 new COVID-19 cases, as well as six more deaths, the Health Ministry reported Saturday.

The new numbers bring the total to 570,098 cases and 7,938 deaths since the virus was first detected in Lebanon in February 2020. Out of the latest figures, 45 were among travelers arriving in Lebanon.

A total of 21,202 tests were administered in the last 24 hours, resulting in an average two-week positivity rate of 6.9 percent.

The report also detailed that 350 people were in hospital with the virus, including 132 patients in intensive care and 28 on ventilators.

A total of 10,143 first-dose vaccine jabs were administered, as well as 16,941 second-dose jabs, resulting in a total of 1,007,641 individuals or 21.1 percent of the eligible population now fully vaccinated in Lebanon since the rollout began six months ago.
