Any Military Confrontation with Enemies to Be Away from Iran - Army

A senior spokesman for the General Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces dismissed the untrue US account of a recent attack on an ‘Israeli’-operated tanker in the Sea of Oman, warning the enemies that Iran will not allow any possible military engagement to break out in its vicinity.

Speaking to reporters on Saturday, Brigadier General Abolfazl Shekarchi denounced the stories invented by the American, ‘Israeli’ and Saudi media about the Islamic Republic’s involvement in a recent attack on oil tanker Mercer Street as part of attempts to fuel Iranophobia.

The commander also warned that in case of a military confrontation with the enemies, Iran won’t allow the battle zone to be formed in its surrounding area.

“If we are to confront the enemies [militarily], we will announce it clearly, like what we did in Ain al-Assad,” the general added, pointing to the heavy missile attack that Iran launched against the American air base in Iraq in January 2020 in retaliation for the assassination of top Iranian commander Lt. General Qassem Soleimani.

Rejecting the recent stories invented by the enemies about Iran’s role in the recent incident that targeted an ‘Israeli’-owned vessel as part of a psychological operation, General Shekarchi said such a move reveals their fear of the Islamic Republic’s integrity.

“The US has not been and is not after interaction. They have always sought to overthrow the Iranian government. Their method in dealing with Iran will not change as long as the Americans are under the influence of the Zionist regime,” he stated.

While the strategy of the US, the UK and the Zionist entity is based on creating insecurity, the Saudi media have also joined them in order to intensify Iranophobia, the general warned, adding that Iran’s strategy is to strengthen security of the Gulf.

General Shekarchi also dismissed the US’ claim that debris from an Iranian drone has been retrieved from water after the attack on Mercer Street, saying it is not clear what laboratory has examined such undocumented evidence.

He further noted that fabricating flimsy evidence is not so difficult for the Zionists who have a long experience of such actions. “It is not even hard to create an explosion on board a ship.”

Angered by the unity and solidarity of the Islamic establishment in Iran, the US invents such stories as an approach to mount pressure on Iran, Shekarchi added.
